The Dr. Vibe Show™

All Our Own is live international audio conversation for Generation X Women of Color.

It is a safe space where Gen X Women of Color can discuss their issues with input from women of color from other generations. However, Generation X women are at the center of the conversation.

The regular panelists are: Aisha Staggers Julissa Borbon and L.A. Wade.

Tonight’s conversation topic is the 2018 American Midterm Elections.

Tonight’s special guest is Dominque Grisby of The 94 Percent.

Here is a little about The 94 Percent …

We represent the 94 percent of black women who voted for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 Election. No, that doesn’t mean we all agreed with her politics or policies, but we understood that our nation was headed into the apocalypse. 2016 was the perfect storm for fuckery and dumbassery, and the 2016 Election was the climax. And like our mothers and grandmothers before us, we needed to give the nation a race pep talk by turning out to vote in historic numbers for…a white woman.

No, we didn’t create ourselves because of a love for Hillary Clinton, but rather the recognition that black women were once again trying to save a world that doesn’t give a shit about them.

We’ve heard it over and over again: “We should’ve done MORE to save the election.” But we did. 94 percent of us did. Why didn’t y’all do your jobs?

Oh. Because a white woman wasn’t even enough for white women.

But that’s not the point. The point is black women throughout history have put our bodies on the line to protect our families and our community, and we have gotten nothing in return for it. We compromise for the greater good of humanity to save a world from destroying itself, and in return, receive no gratification for the sacrifices and obstacles we face to help others.

So, here we are. But this time, we’re celebrating one another without the need for recognition from others. We’ve got a lot of fucking black girl magic, and we’re keeping it to ourselves.

So, welcome. Kick off your shoes, take off your bra, and relax.

During the conversation, the ladies talked about:

– The story behind The 94 Percent
– Some thoughts about the last American presidential campaign, Hillary Clinton’s Campaign and white women
– How women of color in America and Canada getting more involved in politics and some of the barriers that they are facing
– Some thoughts about the current midterms campaign
– Latino American support of the Republican party
