Rhoma Spencer is an actor, director, stand up comedian, broadcast journalist and storyteller is from Trinidad and Tobago. She came to Toronto, Ontario in 1999 to earn her Masters Degree in directing from York University and has lived in Toronto since. After graduating, she worked with the African Theatre Ensemble for two years before going on her own to do theatre from the Caribbean and the diaspora. Rhoma founded Threatre Achipilego (http://www.theatrearchipelago.ca/ ) in 2004. During this interview, Rhoma shares some of her story including the moment when she knew that performing arts would be her life, learning about the business side of the world of performing arts, how did Theatre Archipelago come about and it's history to date and some of the challenges along the way, her eight year journey to produce "I Marcus Garvey", her eight year journey to produce "I Marcus Garvey" and the current state of African Canadian theatre.
