The Dr. Vibe Show™

Aisha K. Staggers had her first major publication, an album review, in The New Haven Register while just a sophomore in high school. Another series of reviews published in The Hartford Courant followed. By the time she reached college, Aisha was writing for the literary magazine and interning at a local radio station, ABC-affiliate as a writer in the news department and in the A&R department of an independent record company.

As a graduate student at Fisk University, Aisha asked Dr. Raymond Winbush to chair her thesis because 1) he was one of the most renowned voices in black culture and academia, and 2) he was a Prince fan. His scholarship and guidance led Aisha to an early career as a professor of social sciences and later an administrator in higher education.

Aisha has also served as a director of education and policy research centers and on the staff of legislative commissions. She previously served on the Executive Board of the CT Young Democrats’ Women’s Caucus, an avid campaigner and has remained active in politics and public policy.

Ms. Jones is an activist, feminist, and a former collaborator with Paisley Park.

With 34 years of experience as a Professional Speaker and Trainer, Jen Buck’s strength and conviction on the platform have earned her standing ovations and rave reviews, around the world. She began her career in the banking and finance world working for Discover Card, when it was a start-up, and spent ten years as a leader in a training role, where she honed her craft in leadership and employee development.

Jen has spoken to countless numbers of people throughout her 24 year professional speaking career and has delivered keynotes and workshops in front of audiences ranging from 10- 25,000 people. She focuses on leadership and management and is committed to helping teams thrive in an equitable, supportive, and uplifting environment. She has written six books and she is a Certified Professional Coach who helps people increase their potential so that they can achieve higher levels of success. She has trained and coached 4-Star Generals, the highest-level executives at Coca-Cola and Walmart, and even an Emmy nominated actress—the demand for her knowledge and perspective is very broad. She has recently started an online learning academy for high-performing women and strives to be the driving source of information and development for women who are leading organizations.

Jen Buck is also the founder and director of a nonprofit organization that helps families in need in Phoenix, Arizona. Jen has founded several not-for-profit organizations and community action groups over the years, including a disaster recovery coalition that provided aid on-ground after the Shawnee tornadoes in Oklahoma, as well as a home for at-risk girls in Uganda. Finally, Jen also works in politics as a Chief of Staff for U.S. Congressional and Senatorial candidates and is committed to inspiring change and being an active contributor to the political landscape.

Dr. Adolph Brown, III works with schools and corporations around the world to implement best practices that support peak performance and educational excellence. Ronald F. Levant, Ed.D., ABPP, earned his doctorate in Clinical Psychology and Public Practice from Harvard University. He was on the faculty of Boston University, where he directed the nationally prominent Fatherhood Project, Rutgers University, Harvard Medical School at The Cambridge Hospital, and the Center for Psychological Studies, Nova Southeastern University, where he also served as Dean. He is currently Professor Emeritus of Psychology, The University of Akron, where he was Dean of the Buchtel College of Arts and Sciences, Professor of Psychology, and Core Faculty in the Counseling Psycholgy Program. Dr. Levant was the 2005 President of APA, and served as the Editor of the Psychology of Men and Masculinity from 2007-2015.

Dr. Levant has authored, co-authored, edited or co-edited 19 books and over 250 peer-reviewed refereed journal articles and book chapters in the psychology of men and masculinities, family and gender psychology, and advancing professional psychology. He has developed and evaluated a number of psychological measures designed to assess a variety of gender-related constructs. These include: The original Male Role Norms Inventory (MRNI), the Revised (MRNI-R), the Short Form (MRNI-SF), the Very Brief Form (MRNI-VB) and the Adolescent (MRNI-A) and Adolescent-revised (MRNI-A-r) versions. In addition he developed the Normative Male Alexithymia Scale (NMAS) and Brief Form (NMAS_BF), The Femininity Ideology Scale (FIS) and Short Form (FIS-SF), the Health Behavior Inventory-20 (HBI-20) and Short Form (HBI-SF), the Women’s Non-Traditional Sexuality Questionnaire (WNSQ), the Father’s Expectations About Son’s Masculinity Scale (FEASMS), and the Aging Adult’s Masculinity Ideology Inventory (AAMII).

Dr. Levant’s signature contribution has been in establishing the empirical foundation for the “Normative Male Alexithymia” hypothesis. In addition, Levant developed Alexithymia Reduction Treatment (ART), a brief psychoeducational intervention designed to remediate normative male alexithymia in order to prepare men to engage more fully in psychotherapy. ART is designed as an adjunctive treatment that can be administered prior to, or concurrently with, standard care.

Ain’t Your Mama’s Heat Wave is a stand-up comedy special from the frontlines of the climate crisis. It’s filmed in the St. Paul’s district of Norfolk, VA, a Black public housing community that is being redeveloped because of climate flooding, sea-level rise, and a legacy of racist urban policies. The city of Norfolk, which is below sea level and sinking, is grappling with the climate crisis and racial injustice. Four Black millennial stand-up comedians, hailing from Virginia Beach, Atlanta, Chicago, and Ohio, take the stage to “make the climate crisis funny” in front of a St. Paul’s audience who are at risk for a Hurricane Katrina-like disaster and who are currently being displaced from their homes.

Ain’t Your Mama’s Heat Wave screened at the Planet in Focus 22nd International Environmental Film Festival, that ran in Toronto from October 14-24, 2021.

Recently, Terence Muhammad from the Hip Hop Caucus team was live on our show talking about Ain’t Your Mama’s Heat Wave.
