The Dr. Vibe Show™

Aisha K. Staggers had her first major publication, an album review, in The New Haven Register while just a sophomore in high school. Another series of reviews published in The Hartford Courant followed. By the time she reached college, Aisha was writing for the literary magazine and interning at a local radio station, ABC-affiliate as a writer in the news department and in the A&R department of an independent record company.

As a graduate student at Fisk University, Aisha asked Dr. Raymond Winbush to chair her thesis because 1) he was one of the most renowned voices in black culture and academia, and 2) he was a Prince fan. His scholarship and guidance led Aisha to an early career as a professor of social sciences and later an administrator in higher education.

Aisha has also served as a director of education and policy research centers and on the staff of legislative commissions. She previously served on the Executive Board of the CT Young Democrats’ Women’s Caucus, an avid campaigner and has remained active in politics and public policy.

Ms. Jones is an activist, feminist, and a former collaborator with Paisley Park.

Laura “La La” Key is a powerhouse vocalist, livestreamer and active Real Estate professional. She has managed a major live-streaming App and teaches courses in social media promotion. When she is not busy making joke memes, cussing out politicians or cooking amazing gourmet dishes, she travels the globe recording and performing original music with her artist husband. Most recently the pair traveled to Rio de Janerio, Brazil and Porto, Portugal to perform vocal parts in the studio for their latest album release.

The topics that the ladies will be talking about tonight are:

– Hunter Biden’s attorney files ethics complaint against Marjorie Taylor Greene for showing sexual images

– Italy begins removing gay mothers from children’s birth certificates
– The Barbie movie

Black Canada Talking™ is a live online event that provides Black Canadians opportunity to give their takes and POVs on stories that are of importance to them.

Our guest on today’s show is Kara Morgan.

Kara Morgan is a serial entrepreneur and the Owner and Founder of PlanIt! Efficiency Solutions Inc. – a boutique consultancy in Southern Ontario that she founded in 2012. Her business provides efficiency products and services to growth-oriented service providers. Using a end-to-end approach, her products support energy conscious and efficiency seeking businesses that know the importance of comfort and how the environment can impact productivity.

Through automation and simplified workflows, they help business owners automate and scale their businesses by focusing on operational efficiency, energy efficiency, client comfort and engagement.

The Social Purpose division helps racialized single income mothers become financially independent through business ownership and self employment in the construction and tech industries where they are noticeably underrepresented and the target of racism. Systemic anti-racism education is one of the endeavours undertaken by this division.

She has been an Anti-racism Educator and Facilitator for over 30 years and has delivered anti-racism workshops and webinars to adults and children, in private organizations, and school boards in Alberta and Ontario. Through advocacy work in the Black and broader community, Kara hopes to promote a unified understanding of racism to challenge what is currently prevalent in the media and popular culture which prevents us from seeing the bigger issues around anti-Black systemic racism.

In addition to running her business, she is also the Director of Operations and Secretary for the Afro Canadian Contractors Association (ACCA), an Instructional Facilitator, Industry Expert and Lead Mentor at Innovation Guelph, a non-profit organization that supports entrepreneurs and aws an Expert Advisor for #StartupChats – a live monthly Twitter chat from 2013 to 2022. For 3 years she facilitated the Rhyze Ventures program at Innovation Guelph which is an incubator that supports women entrepreneurs through mentorship and training. The module she delivers is the Psychology of Decision-Making and Unconscious Bias which focuses heavily on systemic racism.

Kara holds a BA in Psychology, and certifications in Project Management, Technical Writing and is completing her certification as a Business Process Architect. She is an avid biker and loves to explore nature. She is a community builder and advocates for children, youth and single income parents. She is the mother of two whom she describes as her greatest teachers.
