Outdated masculine stereotypes damage everyone, so we’re doing something about it through diverse stories that show humanity is more important than terms like ‘man up!’.

Being ManKind Vol. 1 is a collection of inspiring stories told by men from all walks of life. Each is an honest account of their experiences, ranging from the ordinary to the extraordinary. From one man’s use of comedy to break the stigma around anorexia, to a paratrooper who lost his legs on the battlefield and now rows for Great Britain. They offer an opportunity for boys to draw on a diversity of experiences to decide for themselves what it means to be a man. The book wants to show that once you get past polarised gender expectations, you find that the only unbreakable code in humanity is kindness. The idea is that through the stories told, boys and men will be inspired to forge forward as kind and confident individuals, both for themselves and those around them, allowing everybody to succeed together.

For every book sold, another is donated to a school or youth organisation, so that these stories can start to create conversations from the earliest age. The project wants to build a community to make a positive change. This cannot be achieved through one book alone, but hopefully this is the beginning of something much bigger. People from both ends of the gender spectrum are being encouraged to join the conversation and inspire a new generation of kind men.

As Anthony Joshua writes in the foreword, “It’s easy to follow the crowd rather than make your own decisions. Be open, be honest, and be an individual thinker. We have the blueprints of those before us to build our own futures.”

We have just launched a Kickstarter campaign to ensure this conversation can grow to reach the widest possible audience. With this extra support, the Being ManKind team hopes to broaden the conversation by partnering with schools and like-minded charities to create an open-source educational outreach programme, and expand on the stories already told on a new digital platform.

Darshan Sanghrajka, Co-Founder & Creative Director of Super Being Labs, live on our show talking about Being ManKind Volume 1.

During our conversation, Mr. Sanghrajka talked about:

– Some of his manhood journey and his company Super Being Labs
– The story behind the book including some of the challenges producing the book
– He shares a little bit on some of the men profiled in the book
– How has this project has effected his manhood
– The reaction to the book
– His messages for men and those who love them

With all apologies due to Mick Jagger, Keith “Murph” Murphy may not be a man of immense wealth, but he does have taste.

For well over a decade, the Chicago-born journalist, author, editor and blogger has sparred with the likes of a brazen hip hop demigod (Jay-Z); Oscar-winning Hollywood royalty (Leonardo DiCaprio); Young Money’s left-field, multi-platinum groundbreaker (Lil Wayne);  a social media goddess (Kim Kardashian);  rap’s great white hope (Eminem); the most influential R&B diva of the modern age (Mary J. Every day more people are diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), an unpredictable illness that affects vision, balance, memory and mobility. Currently, we don’t know what causes MS and there is no cure. Josephine Casey’s sister Tionna was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in November of 2013. This took our family by surprise and set us on a journey to find a cure. Josephine would love to have you join her on the evening of May 6, 2017 to help raise funds to end Multiple Sclerosis. Ms. Casey would like to invite all those who may be battling MS or and form of sickness to help raise and create awareness. Your support means families within the community who are impacted by MS do not have to face this alone. Josephine would invite you to join us for a special evening in honour of Tionna in support of the MS Society.

Advance ticket(s): $30 (includes dinner, beverage, and entertainment) EMT info.lifespoetryce@gmail.com Donations are also accepted.

Ms. Casey was live on our to talk about the 4th Annual MS Fundraising Dinner which is being held on May 6, 2017 at Spicy Cocina Family Restaurant and Cafe at 5 McMurchy Avenue North in Brampton, Ontario.
